Druids
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary]
Druids are witches who have been called to return to their roots, so to speak, and this has changed them both physically and psychically. Druids live among raw nature, in the deepest recesses of swamps and forests, and they greatly prefer the natural world to modern convenience, any day. Druids make an ultimate commitment to uphold the cycles of nature, and death is a part of that cycle. Witches do not deal in death, believing it to be a bad omen, but druids work with and understand death and its part of the natural world. After all, druids have already died once to be reborn with their powers; death is an every day thing for them. Druids and their familiars, often holdovers from their lives as witches, work with and within nature and all that means, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
Druid numbers are typically extremely small, and they feel most comfortable far from modern society. Druids are unlikely to come to town unless under duress, and even then, it is rarely a comfortable trip for anyone involved. Druids are especially sensitive to not only air quality but sensory overload among the city's many sights and sounds. Like witches, druids greatly prefer their own kind, and are the most reclusive of all the supernatural community. Some supernaturals who dwell fully among the city or have come from other highly-populated areas are likely to believe that druids are just a myth. They have become a legend even among the supernaturals, and werewolf parents use them as a boogeyman of sorts, telling their children that they will snatch them from their beds if they stay up too late. In order to commit to integration, however, druids have allowed some of their number to Robespierre Academy, who will be most comfortable with their own kind and surrounded by nature and plants.
[/PTab][PTab=Conenctions]
Druids are the true neutral species. Unlike their witch counterparts, druids actually do not consider themselves to have any enemies, and their loyalty cannot be bought for any price. They believe in the cycle of the world, and they only venture out in order to correct it. Currently, that means participating in integration, which is difficult for them. Druids do have an easier time being around other natural creatures, such as sirens and werewolves.
[/PTab][PTab=Creed]
All druids began as witches, but shortly before they could take their coming of age ceremonies, they heard the Call. The Call is an instinctual pull from deep within a witch that pulls them inexplicably toward the deep swamps. If a witch attempts to deny the Call, symptoms begin small and grow with time. Physical illness becomes debilitating, their mind can go start going, and their moods and personalities can experience dangerous shifts. If a witch does not heed the warnings and still refuses the Call, the druids will find her in order to bring her home. Willing or not, the witch is collected and brought far from society, in the heart of nature. There, she will be buried in the ancestral dirt until she suffocates and experiences rebirth. The changes brought on by this are physical and mental; features become otherworldly, almost elven, and their bodies become committed to the earth. As such, they begin to age much slower than others, and their fertility is forfeit, the energy transferred into the land they were buried in. Druid children cannot be born, and unless a witch has heard the Call, she cannot become a druid.

Sirens
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary] Sirens and werewolves are estranged cousins who found their home in the deep swamps rather than the lush forests. Sirens are able to spend their days among humans, but when they are fully emerged into water, they become the mythical mermaid. When in water, they are able to breathe under the water, they are able to swim at incredible speeds, and propel themselves forward with fins. When out of water, sirens are able to utilize their voices to manipulate others. This is traditionally done through singing, but with training, sirens are able to use their speaking voice, or nonverbal communication to manipulate others. Humans are typically easier to control, but other species can be susceptible to their calls if they are compromised in some way.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
Sirens are traditionally one of the more insular communities and will rarely spend time with others outside of their species. Sirens do vary in the time they spend with the outside world, some will take jobs working in clubs and using their abilities to lure patrons to them, some will spend more time in their fish form and uncover the secrets of the bayou. Sirens are now welcomed at the Robespierre Academy, and have decided to send some of their children as a show of good faith to this new world order. Sirens can be male or female and always born as human and become sirens when they are killed in water. Sirens stay the age they were when they died and are unable to age further. Due to them dying and becoming reborn, sirens are infertile and cannot bear or create children of their own.
[/PTab][PTab=Connections]
Sirens are traditionally seen as cold, calculating, and lack empathy. Sirens lack the knowledge of their lives before they were made into sirens, though some report nightmares of their deaths. Sirens are as dark and mysterious as the swamps they call home. Sirens have been called upon in wars and battles for their ability to remain calm in chaos and their abilities to act without remorse of their actions. Sirens are natural killers and are able to sustain themselves from human meat if they chose. [break] [break] Sirens are closest with the druids of all of the species. Druids and sirens have mutual respect for their shared lands and able to work with each other to sustain their territories. Sirens, though closest traditionally with werewolves, do not get along with their bestial relatives. Werewolves feel that sirens are cold and ruthless, and sirens feel that werewolves are beasts and fueled by their emotions.
[/PTab][PTab=Creed]
Sirens are created when a human with a werewolf gene deep inside of them is killed in the water. Bodies that go missing in the swamps without a trace wake up with no memory of who they were before and a new family. Sirens can attempt to create new sirens, though it rarely works and typically ends up with dead humans in the swamps. Sirens are able to blend in with humans as needed, but traditionally stand out from humans due to their difficulties with emotions and social cues. Sirens are able to gain sustenance from traditional human food, but also can consume human flesh if needed.

Succubi
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary]
Succubi (males are typically called incubi) are a variant species of the famous New Orleans vampire. They are a sect of vampires that were shunned for their fervent blood lust and were cut off from human blood supply until they were no longer hungry. A succubus is able to sate any hunger from the life force of humans. This can be absorbed through human energy, their lust, or even their dreams, depending on the succubus's personal preferences. Like their vampire ancestors, they are weakened in the sunlight, are weakened around silver, and cannot see their reflection in mirrors. They live together in cooperative nests with varying structures of hierarchy and power. [break][break] Succubi are often thought to be only female, but this is false. Succubi are diverse and span throughout New Orleans. Regulations in the 1970s led to a restriction on the creation of new vampires, which legally includes succubi. In the decades since, new succubi have been illegally created from wealthy human populations of the United States, which have journeyed to New Orleans to engage in new experiences and excitement with the supernatural communities.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
Succubi tend to live within nests of various size. They are able to govern themselves mostly, and at times will dispute between nests over territories and resources. Nests are often within the heart of the city and will live in lavish homes supplied by their benefactors. Succubi are welcomed at Robespierre Academy where they can be taught how to harness their abilities and even utilize other methods of absorbing energy from humans.
[/PTab][PTab=Connections]
Succubi have the closest alignment with witches, sirens, and druids. The Succubi have firm alignments with those who embrace the darker or more sexual side of the supernatural community. Succubi can often align with human positions of power and have often been lovers and mistresses to them. Traditionally, succubi and vampires do not typically get along, vampires feel that succubi are lust-fueled and beneath them. Succubi tend to believe that vampires are stuck in the old ways and too traditional for a modern world.
[/PTab][PTab=Creed]
Succubi are able to turn humans into succubi, they are unable to change other species into a succubi. To turn a human into a new succubi, a human must be completely open to becoming a succubi. Succubis are able to manifest within and manipulate the dreamscape of humans, during this manifestation they can enter a willing mind and perform The Ritual. The Ritual is a dream ceremony that is highly personal and unique to each succubus, when The Ritual is complete, the willing human wakes up as a succubus and is unable to turn back.

Vampires
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary]
The vampires of New Orleans follow most of the old lore: they cannot go out during the day, they do not cast reflections, they require human blood for nourishment, and they experience adverse reactions to silver can be killed with stakes. They live together in cooperative nests, each with their own unique structure and local flavor, and they regulate themselves, ensuring others show restraint and don’t leave bodies in their wake. The vampire community is insular but diverse, with all sorts flourishing within it. After regulations were agreed upon in the 1970’s, turning new vampires has become an ordeal and a process. The punishment for turning new vampires without following protocol is steep, and vampires have turned from random turnings to raising children, mostly orphans, with knowledge of vampires, their rites and rituals, and their culture. These children are few and raised during the day by human nannies while their “parents” sleep. Children who do not consent to the change when they come of age are released under special protections, while others are turned for local or other nests.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
In New Orleans, the vampire population is split into a minority of long time residents who follow the traditional ways and a series of new migrants who have sought New Orleans as a supernatural mecca. As such, they do not tend to play nice, and the traditional vampires feel as though their sense of control over their own population is weakening. Coupled with the rise of werewolves, it’s a very tense time to be a vampire in New Orleans.[break][break]
The Azalea Alliance Nest has been setting the tone for vampires in the city since before the troubles began, and that tone has been traditional, bordering on dogmatic and positively orthodox. Now that the community is out, however, things are vastly changing, and the local nest must contend with new immigrants and the new dominion of werewolves. The Vampires of New Orleans Alliance answers to the local nest, and all new vampires must be registered either under the VNOA or the Azalea Alliance Nest.
[/PTab][PTab=Connections]
Alliances[break] Vampires consider themselves the superior of all the species, and as such, they are unlikely to automatically choose to work with another species. They frequently employ witches to ward their bases and provide protection during the day, but vampires are not quick to consider the relationship a mutual or equal one. The VNOA has done some work in breaking down old boundaries and publicly support the Robespierre Academy's efforts of complete and equal integration.[break][break] Enemies[break] The old adage is true: vampires and werewolves do not get along. The AllMother's only sons frequently fought for the upper hand, and the species the two spawned have been no different. Before, when the world of the supernatural was closed off, vampires had a the top spot, given by seniority and their calculating nature, but now everything is topsy turvy. VNOA members are more likely to "disgracefully traipse around with beasts," but the Azalea Alliance Nest clings hard to old grudges, considering them among the old traditions. They are unlikely to budge anytime soon.[break][break]
[/PTab][PTab=Quick Facts]
1. Getting permission to turn into a vampire is a near act of Congress (adoption by vampires is not a guarantee of approval), but once all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed, the future vamp is drained by their maker and then partake of their maker's blood. It is a ritual that seals a relationship between the two that varies among individuals.[break] 2. When a maker dies, their "children" feel it but do not die or revert into humans.[break] 3. It is absolutely impossible for vampires to conceive children. Turning pregnant mothers would kill any child (aka no daywalkers).[break] 4. Vampires cannot subsist on animal blood alone; at least once a month, they must drink human blood. They, however, do not have to kill the human. In fact, doing so is heavily frowned upon.[break] 5. There is no way to reverse vampirism.

Werewolves
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary] Werewolves are not far from the beasts that legend has made them out to be. They fear silver and change by the moon. They can be aggressive and ambitious; they are fiercely loyal. The werewolves of New Orleans are no different, even when they dress up. They are beasts in human skins, and they can sometimes struggle to keep it all intact. Starting a puberty, once a month, werewolves are obligated to change, but they may change outside of the full moon's zenith when they please, with effort and concentration. If a werewolf were ever to lose control (which they may come close to during the full moon), there would be hell to pay. For the most part, empowered by their new windfall, werewolves are leading the integration front, and they are making attempts to be the shining examples of tolerance they are selling themselves to be.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
Oak Hill is surrounded by a wrought iron fence, magic wards, and of course, live oaks that drip with Spanish moss. On the outside, it looks like any other gated community of gorgeous houses, walkways, and a gold course, and on an average afternoon, the residents can be seen going about their perfectly ordinary business. When the full moon rises, however, the residents of Oak Hill shed their pearls and ties and grow fur and claws. They hunt the protected game leases that border their neighborhood before returning home for school and work in the morning. Oak Hill is a highly elite subdivision of werewolves that mostly came from old blood and old money. Houses are inherited, and everyone answers to the Robespierre family.[break][break]
Other werewolves exist outside of Oak Hill, of course, and more seem to come, drawn by the haven of New Orleans. For the most part, there is free interaction among the giant pack, but born werewolves are always at a social advantage. With regulations and treaties, the rite of turning werewolves is nowhere as controlled as vampires, but generally it is looked down upon to turn others at will and any new turned can expect to be turned away from Oak Hill unless needed for security jobs. Still, compared to the strict division in the vampire community, the much larger werewolf community is all about integration and building the New Orleans Pack to the biggest and best it can be. Now that they’re on top, werewolves are all about extending olive branches to other supernaturals and are the driving force behind the integrated Robespierre Academy.
[/PTab][PTab=Connections] Alliances[break] Werewolves work with other ambitious species, including witches and succubi, in order to ensure their current winning streak keeps itself up. They may employ witches to pave the way for grander speeches or subtle charms to improve their own likability. [break][break]Enemies[break] Werewolves and vampires absolutely do not get along. It's an old wound and an old grudge, and it shows no sign of healing or mending, despite the new effort to integrate. The vampires want their top spot back, and the werewolves will do anything to keep them from it. If pressed, werewolves will work with sirens and druids, but as a general rule, they remain wary and superstitious of the mysterious forest-dwellers.
[/PTab][PTab=Quick Facts] 1. Werewolves can be born or made, but only humans can be turned into werewolves. The werewolf contagion is incompatible with every other species.[break] 2. Werewolves may interbreed with humans and other fertile species, but the powers do not hybrid. Any child has a 50/50 chance of being either werewolf or anything else.[break] 3. Werewolves answer to a strict hierarchical and heritage-based structure. All werewolves in New Orleans eventually answer to the Oak Hill alpha.[break] 4. Werewolf children often attend private or public schools alongside human children.[break] 5. A turned werewolf has a better chance of sprouting horns than they do being fully accepted inside of Oak Hill.

Witches
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary]
Stuck between both werewolves and vampires are the witches, who take full advantage of the middle ground. Traditionally based in spells and specializations, witches have the power to influence the world around them, and they tend to do so - for a price. They serve as protectors for vampires during the day or restore wards on werewolf territory. They make potions for ailments or for love or whatever dark desire comes to them with enough money. Nothing is ever foolproof, but if the planets align just right and the words are crips and clear, witches can make big things happen.[break][break]
Witches come in a diverse population, but they are generally divided by creed. Our Lady of the Water, both the school and the coven, take a unique and woman-centric approach to witchcraft, claiming that the AllMother was the actual first witch and as such witches deserve a more superior role on the council stage. Outside of that incredibly small subset, the rest of the witches believe in diverse traditions, roles, and concepts. The basic specializations, however, remain the same, and witches fall into the categories of diviner (skilled in seeing the future, secrets, etc), naturalist (skilled in working with nature, the elements, or animals), healer (adept at mental, emotional, and physical healing), wordsmith (can spin words and languages into works of power), herbalist (have an intrinsic connection to herbs and potion making), and channeler (can move and see energy others may not). With the opening of Robespierre Academy, some longtime Our Lady members have become teachers and are interested in spreading more traditional craft and history to a new generation of witches.
[/PTab][PTab=Society]
Witches in New Orleans are split, with Our Lady on one side and the new Robespierre Academy and the general witch population on the other. To leave one for the other is a grievous offense, and Our Lady's reputation for seclusion and elitism has only increased in recent years, as they have closed ranks since the troubles started. They still attract students with the small school and mystery, but the veneer around the edge has started to crack. Witches are in a moment where they are questioning old structures, and seeing the rise of the werewolves, they are trying to decide their place in the world. Most witches from all covens live and work in the human world, taking perfectly ordinary though often professional jobs. It's not uncommon for a human to find out their nurse, doctor, or therapist is a healer witch. Naturalist witches make fine chemists or vets or just shelter volunteers, while wordsmiths make find professors or authors or speech writers (with coven direction, of course). All covens tend to move in the same direction, as it is their combined power that can affect the most change.
[/PTab][PTab=Connections] Alliances[break] Witches of all creeds tend to be creatures who move among all circles while remaining loyal to their home covens, and they are the easiest to pass for human in their everyday lives. Often, covens enter into paid agreements with humans, werewolves, vampires, succubi, really anyone who has the coin to rub together. Witches won't go against their creed for money, but there are still quite a lot they will do. Humans with enough money can purchase low level potions or enchants, and many witches have working relationships scattered throughout the supernatural and human community of New Orleans.[break][break] Enemies[break] Witch loyalty has its limits, and once they are reached without substantial compensation, loyalties can quickly change and shift. If a nest or a pack or even another coven crosses a single coven witch, it turns the coven as a whole, and no one can hold a grudge quite like a witch. As a general rule, humans are considered personae non gratae in witch spaces unless they've paid for a spot.
[/PTab][PTab=Quick Facts] 1. Witches are not limited in who they spend their time with, but cross-species relationships tend to pull on the solidarity of a coven. Children from such relationships are extremely rare, and the powers do not hybrid. If a witch and a werewolf have a child, that child has a 50/50 chance of being either.[break] 2. Witches are born, not made. Though the gene may skip generations, a witch will not have to look far at all to see witch ancestors. Regular humans cannot become witches, no matter what.[break] 3. There is generally no hierarchy related to witch specializations, but being rare, diviners are prized in covens.[break] 4. Witches take their specializations during their coming of age ceremonies, where their powers reach their full levels. Witches do not choose their specialization; it's an instinct.[break] 5. If a witch never has an official coming of age ceremony, their full power does not manifest.[break]

Humans
[PTabbedContent][PTab=Summary]
For all of human history, humans told stories of monsters in the darkness. They watched movies about vampires and werewolves. Young girls thought themselves to be the witches that graced their televisions. In 2016 these monsters proved themselves real. Humans living in Louisiana were trapped in the state as it was declared property of the Oak Hill pack. Humans are unable to come and go as they please, meaning some displacement of tourists at the time and separation of families. For some humans, this has been the ultimate test of tolerance and resilience. For some, they decided to make this work and establish new lives within this order. For others, this was the spark of hatred that they craved for years. Groups rallying against the new world order started to spring forward, even groups that had existed for as long as these beings came forward from the shadows.
[/PTab][PTab=Alliances]
Some humans have opened their arms to their supernatural counterparts, feeling that it was the promise of immortal life to them. These humans who have been accepting of the communities have been treated favorably from the reigning families. This can be seen in businesses that cater to supernaturals, relationships, or even fetishizing these groups. [break][break]
One group that humans have served closest would be the vampires. Due to rules within the vampire communities, turning humans at will has been illegal since the 1970s. To combat this, vampires have taken to kidnapping and raising humans within their ranks. The human children are then able to grow up among the vampire nest and become part of the culture and community. When they are of age, they are given the choice to become a vampire or be reunited with their birth family.
[/PTab][PTab=Rivals]
Rivals are plentiful, most humans seeing the supernatural community as a hazard to their way of life. Groups rising against the supernaturals have thrived and vary in the degree of chaos they bring. [break] [break] - Church of the Sacred Soul: A community that came together when the supernatural community outed themselves. They believe that these 'monsters' are from straying from core Christian beliefs and are punishment for the sins of America.[break] - The Family: The Family is a long line of human hunters who have been missioned to wipe out the supernatural community. Members do not have to be blood related, but as tight knit as a family would be. [break]
