Humanity has long ago wrecked the Earth, and now can only exist within certain climate-controlled domes. The largest of these is known as the Moondrop, and is situated where modern-day Washington State is on the Pacific coast. The dome is large enough to hold an entire city, but must be opened each night between midnight and 3AM in order to vent the pollution from the city. However, recently, strange phenomena have begun to disrupt the city. Starting whenever the dome opens, a pearly white Mist seeps into the city, and brings with it strange creatures unlike anything native to Earth. Weird, alien shapes crawl through the city, devouring anything and everything in their path. The true alien nature of these creatures has been hidden from citizens, and the government now enforces--violently--curfew laws. But they can’t enforce the monsters, or what has started to happen to people. Chosen by an enigmatic figure known only as Sedna, certain members of the population have started to develop what many would consider magical powers, or even superhuman abilities: control over the elements, telekinesis, the ability to raise and control the dead, and more. The city has slowly begun to harbor a magical underground society. The government, in response, has decided to start shooting anything which indicates it might be touched by Sedna. Of course, it’s not just people with the magic (although the government is quite happy to shoot them). The creatures that invade the city each night have started to grow in size, ferocity, and bravery, and sometimes those creatures don’t leave. And, not least of all, people have noticed a new star on the horizon: a reddish spark, as bright as the planets, that seems to grow in brightness with the strength of the Mists.
