Our Lady of the Water has been a staple of New Orleans’s witch community for more than a century, and its place as a prestigious but small and separate institution has been cemented since its conception. Even now, with its crumbling walls and moss-choked trees, it still claims to be the premier institution for intuitive magic learning. Girls as young as eighteen are tapped for the limited spots inside Our Lady, where they start with basic spells and then slowly branch out into their full power. By the time their coming of age ceremonies arrive around nineteen, most students know their specializations and can confidently take their own place in the supernatural world.[break][break]
Our Lady takes only fifteen students who identify as women, spread evenly between the ages of 18 to 22. Each class enters at age eighteen in three’s and stay together for the next five years until they graduate and go into the world. While attending the school, each student will perform a duty related to their own area of expertise, be that a chore around the house or an occupation in the community, and along with the hired teachers, the eldest students will aid in teaching the younger. After their graduation, some choose to stay local and contribute to the Our Lady coven, teaching at the school or participating in the larger supernatural community, but others choose to go off and spread the teachings of Our Lady far and wide.

Our Lady runs on the religious foundation that the AllMother herself was the first witch rather her daughter. Those who are attend are taught that all other species come from witchmagic, a prospect that is obviously unpopular among others, including other witches. Some students take this religious belief very seriously, others may not. Regardless of where a student lands on the religious spectrum, the AllMother, especially as her representation of the Lady of the Water (a creational deity), is a highly respected figure and called upon in almost every large spell.
